PARTICIPATION IN THE ARTS AND CREATIVE ECONOMY

The PACE Project is a new initiative for Kirklees. Designed to help young people access career opportunities in the creative sector. The creative industries contribute over £100m per annum to the Kirklees’ economy* and is continuing to grow. It is diverse, exciting and at the forefront of change.
The PACE Project is an opportunity for young people to gain training and skills specifically for the creative sector, tailoring the training to individual organisations and their project needs.
Successful participants will be offered volunteer placements with arts organisations on real projects, giving them a genuine opportunity to make their mark and gain real world experience. This will benefit both the local young people of Kirklees and help our creative industries to grow.

ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES

LAB PROJECT
A two-week programme that develops your drama and theatre skills as a tool for communication. To be a successful communicator is essential in practically all careers. Our theatre techniques are a brilliant and fun way of building your skill set to get ready for a career in the arts.

LAB WELLBEING
This is a one week that uses drama and theatre techniques to help you develop a wellbeing strategy that works for you. During the week we will introduce you to a number of strategies for you to try out and use as it suits you. A great way to improve your wellbeing while also developing skills.

MEDIA STUDIES
Delivered by Kirklees Local TV. This course will give you practical and real-world experience of journalism. In the first week you will learn skills in writing and reporting, using a camera, marketing through social media, editing and administration. In the second week you will be sent out in groups into the community to become a real news team.

LAB VOLUNTEERING
This one-week course will give you the skills you need to become an assertive and valuable volunteer and move into a volunteering role. This course is useful in conjunction with any other of our PACE projects.

EVENT MANAGEMENT
There are so many opportunities within this sector right now. Skills in event management can be transferred across so many fields and with festivals, carnivals and many other events planned throughout the year, this is a great course to set you up for a number of employment opportunities.
